Flash mob, awkward high school flashbacks and a milestone

A couple nights ago Adrian wouldn't stop crying for an hour and nothing was working to calm him down.  I figured he was overtired.  So I decided we could drive around the neighborhood to help him fall asleep. I put him in the carseat, grabbed my keys and shoes from another room, and when I came back he was asleep.  Good to know!

Yesterday we went to Joey and Erin's wedding.  Matt was the best man, so Adrian and I went separately.  Adrian fell asleep in the car but woke up in the church after I sneezed for the second time. He made it through most of the ceremony but we had to leave after the vows.  We rode the trolley with the wedding party and he slept through all the shouting, laughter, and shenanagins made by 20 hyper drunk adults.  They took some pictures at the Joslyn Art Museum but another wedding party showed up that had booked it, so we had to leave.  I stood by myself at the cocktail hour (well, with Adrian but he isn't a great conversationalist yet) and waited to get seated.

First trolley ride (horrible lighting)

When Matt's in a wedding and I don't know anyone else I feel like I'm in the high school cafeteria again, looking for someone to sit with.  I'm better at conversing with new people than I was back then, but I'm still pretty awkward. Thankfully two really nice couples and an usher sat with me and it was fun talking to them.  I got several compliments on Adrian and how little, cute and precious he is.  There's nothing like a little baby to start a conversation.  I did have one chick that acted shocked that he was 7 weeks old, so little and not a preemie   She looked at me like I had two heads.  My mom thinks I'm too sensitive, but that woman was rude.

We had a nice dinner and Matt gave a great speech.  The DJ was really good,  there were a lot of people on the dance floor.  After a few dances the song "Forever" by Chris Brown came on and all these people started dancing a synchronized dance.  It was a flash mob!  What an awesome surprise for a wedding!  The couples family and friends did it for them as a surprise, it was one of my favorite parts.  It was a beautiful wedding and Adrian was a trooper.  We left when he had enough and stayed the night at the hotel.

Today Matt's parents came over for a little bit and Robert had gotten Virginia Tech gear for the baby.  He got a jersey, two onesies and sweatpants.  He couldn't find anything smaller than 9 months and the jersey is 12 months.  So even though we wont have a one month picture, I want to take pictures of him in it every month and watch him grow.  It will be so cute.  Now he needs Cowboy gear and he will be all set.  Too bad Matt has to work during all of the football games :(

After they left we had some tummy time and Adrian rolled from his tummy to his back for the first time!  Then he cried.  It was an accident; I think the weight of his head may have catapulted him over.   here are some pictures:

Before (I had some fun with editing.  Also my camera was on the wrong setting, thus the slow capture)
During (he startled himself)

After.  Yes, I'm posting all three pictures.
Relishing in his accomplishments.  Or plotting his next move.  Both.

I've figured out how to upload videos!

This is ridiculously long, you could watch the whole thing if you want but you'll get the gist after 30 seconds or so.  I just love the faces he makes when he sleeps.

Also rather long.  This is from today.

Not my brightest moment

Adrian has started laughing.  It's freaking adorable.  He was laughing and smiling while Matt made weird noises, then he laughed at Auntie Michelle for a few minutes while she tapped his nose and made a "boop!" noise.  My mom got him a little ladybug cellphone that makes phone noises, a squeaky voice and music and he was smiling at it this morning.  I love it when he is awake and happy!  He loves being put upright on your shoulder; his little head bobs around and his eyes go wide.  He will crane his neck as far as it will go to look around and he lifts his eyebrows and gets a bunch of wrinkles that make me think of an old man.

Old man wrinkles

I'm in love with this little boy :)

My mom said he is starting to look more like me; he has my face shape, long eyelashes and big eyes.  Matt is in total denial and said she is just trying to make me feel better.  He said "I'm sorry Julie, he is all Palmer."  Well I'M a Palmer, so his argument doesn't mean anything.  Time will tell.

This weekend we have a wedding and Matt is the best man.  Adrian is coming along because I still can't leave him with a sitter.  Even a grandma.  I just feel like he still needs his mom.  Plus it's hard when you breastfeed because you don't want to mess with your supply.  We do have a wedding in October that he will be babysat for, but he will be closer to three months.  This will be hard because (for example) he is currently sleeping in his swing, has been there for about half an hour and I'm starting to miss him...and he is about 6 feet away.

This week Michelle and I went to a baby fair.  It's like a bridal fair, but with a baby theme.  There were some stores, hospitals, cake bakers, photographers etc.  It was fun; I'm surprised I contained myself and didn't buy more cloth diapers.  I was holding Adrian in a sling and about halfway through our stay...you guessed it...Adrian peed on me.  All over.  I left my house in a hurry because I was late so I forgot that I didn't have extra clothes for him, or the diaper changing pad.  So I ended up changing him on my bag on the floor of the bathroom and all I had for him was a pair of sweatpants and a clean diaper.  Not my brightest moment.  So I swaddled him up and we stayed for a little longer because who would leave before the baby crawling/walking races?  They were adorable by the way.

Adrian had another appointment and he weighed 8lbs 9 ounces!  He is getting back on track for weight gain, thank goodness.  He needs to earn the "I'm bringing chubby back" onesie Michelle got for him.

In the morning we like to chill and sing to Adrian.  Currently he likes "Bohemian Rhapsody" both the original and muppet versions. Score.

Diaper changing drama queen

Adrian has been in cloth diapers for a few days now; it's going pretty well so far.  Let me say the sun is my new best friend because of its bleaching abilities.  The diapers make him look a little funny since they are so bulky but they're still adorable.  Matt is hilarious because when I hand him the baby for a diaper change I'll go to another room to do something and I'll hear "OMG!  wow Adrian!  oh gross!" and so on and so forth.  Drama queen.  At least he changes diapers.

Have I mentioned I can't move Adrian at all without him waking up?  This is slightly new, it started out with not being able to put him down and he would be okay as long as he was held.  But now he wakes up when he is moved and I feel like I'm held hostage on the couch when he needs to sleep.  I hope it's just a phase.

We weighed him on my dads meat scale again and it said 8lbs which is an ounce short of his birth weight.  That means he gained 4 ounces each week in the past 3 weeks which is supposed to be good, but I still want to go to the doctor tomorrow and get him weighed on the same scale and make sure he's gaining enough.

Nothing new is happening so here are some pictures:

Look how big his feet are!

Emilee's Wedding and my one month old

This past weekend Emilee got married!  I met Emilee in our freshman year of college.  We had several classes together and sat next to each other in English.  I told her I liked her purse, and we made some remark on the time and became friends. It was that simple.  We were roomies for two years and she was a bridesmaid in my wedding.  Her husband Aaron went to Peru too, and I had a couple of classes with him.  I didn't know him very well but we talked a few times.  He fits in well with our group of friends and it's really cool that Emilee and Jill both have husbands they met in Peru.  We have a nice little group going and I'm excited for the Palmers, Slaters and Reeces to continue being friends (forever!!) and for our kids to grow up together.

So onto the wedding, I didn't take any pictures because it was too hectic and I might have forgotten.  Matt was supposed to come and help with Adrian, but he told me the night before that his work didn't give him the day off, and instead they made him work a double.  So I panicked.  This was 12:45 AM on Saturday.  He called his mom and she said she was available.  What a lifesaver!  She watched Adrian all day and followed me to the hair salon, Target (because I forgot a pacifier) Burger King for lunch and Emilee's house, which is where the ceremony and reception took place.  I'm so sad I didn't get pictures because I loved all of the details.  She had photographs of them growing up clothes-pinned on a line, several mason jars with candles inside as centerpieces on the tables, lacy table cloths, chinese lanterns with strings of lights above the dance floor/ceremony site and the cutest wedding dress ever.  Her colors were gray and yellow and I honestly thought it was perfect.  Her cake wasn't done correctly but as far as I know that was the only issue.  I danced with Adrian in my arms and he mostly slept.  I planned to leave at 10 but several minutes before my planned departure Adrian peed all over my bridesmaid dress.  Thank goodness we were outside!

My baby is one month old!  He is growing so fast.  We are going to take him to get weighed sometime this week but he is starting to get too tall for his newborn clothes.  He has more awake periods now, but he still eats constantly.  He smiles, coos, and he makes a snorting sound when he is frustrated while trying to eat.  It reminds me of Sophie, my parent's dog.  I feel like I should measure his feet and keep track because they must be bigger already.  We compared them to Anakin's feet (he is 7 months) and they are about the same length.  He currently loves being held, eating, lights, eating, the outdoors, food, daddy's inspirational talks and the Cowboys.  So he is pretty much your typical one month old.  Except for the fact that he is perfect.  So far he dislikes baths and being put down.

I thought the lighting was better but I guess that will teach me to use the flash.  They're kinda grainy :(

I don't think I've mentioned yet that Michelle is pregnant too!  Or did I?  I have no idea but we just found out she is having a boy.  Adrian will have a cousin only 5 months younger than him.  I think they'll be in the same grade.  Carters had a 50% off sale so Michelle and I went together and scored some good deals.  Fall is coming!  I had to get Adrian some warm clothes since all my shopping for him was done in the summer.

As I write this I'm washing my cloth diapers, and my plan is for Adrian to be in them tomorrow!  I'm way to excited for it.  Also, I turned in my resignation today and I'm officially a stay at home mom!  SAHM for short.  I'm so excited to get my house together, do some fall crafts, start baking again and watch my little boy grow up.  Slowly, he can grow up slowly.
