The beginning of Summer

Matt has been working really hard on the house, he took a few days off to work and got a lot done. We bought our cabinets and we have to paint them and then put them in. Then we'll need to tile the floor and get a counter, and a back splash. I feel like I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. My parents finished the shower and I love it! I am trying to pick a paint color now.

We bought a water table for Adrian and it is a lifesaver. He played with it forever today, he just loves water so much. It's nice not having to chase him through the yard. When he got bored with the table he started chasing birds. We have so many in the yard right now I keep thinking of the movie and side-eyeing the birds. We should buy a bird feeder and get on their good side.

Apparently I've been watching Call the Midwife so much that as soon as I turned it on today Adrian yelled "Babies!" He knew what to expect.  I love hearing him talk more these days.

We visited my parents while they babysat Michelle's kids and Hudson hugged Adrian right away but they both toppled over. It was very sweet! All the kids love each other. Adrian kissed Hudson several times and Caroline "flew" both the little boys in a box pretending it was a spaceship. He had a lot of fun and was too excited to even eat dinner.

I haven't shared the wreath I made for summer. I got tired of that teal one and stuck it on the door at the new house for now. I love the colors in this one, I just picked a bunch of felt and went for it.

July

Adrian had so much fun on the 4th of July playing with his cousins and exploring a mud puddle.  We jumped on a trampoline and had homemade ice cream.  Adrian clapped for the fireworks while I covered his ears, and then quickly fell asleep.

This month I've been busy getting ready for Adrian's party and most of it trying to get my house into some kind of order.  I just want to keep getting rid of things.   Adrian has been busy trashing my house and learning new words.

We've managed to go swimming a couple of times and Adrian loved it.  It's tempting to get him a bathing suit with a tube built into it like I had when I was little.  Those are hilarious.
He fell asleep like this by the air conditioning vent.

He's awake here, just being silly.

I started working out again, I know I do this on and off all the time.  I think I picked a video that can hold my interest this time.  We're giving up fast food and trying to drink less soda.  We cancelled the cable and are going to get a cheaper phone service.  My goal is to lose 10-20 pounds.  I would love to fit into my dresses again and my eating habits have gotten in the way of that.  This will also help me practice my cooking more.  It's embarrassing that I only know how to cook chicken and hamburger.  I would also like to get more advanced with sewing so I can make Adrian's Halloween costumes and perhaps make my own clothes.
Looks like he's scolding Sophie but he was just talking.

I can't believe Adrian is going to turn two in two days.  He doesn't look like a 2 year old to me, but he sure acts like one.  He talks more and more all the time, it's just not always understandable.  He throws tantrums, tells me when he needs a diaper change, and one time I watched while he opened the screen door and threw several toys outside so he could play.  We will be getting him his first haircut soon and I can picture Matt and I holding each other and bawling.

A big boy bed and a house update

A few days ago I watched Adrian climb up the stairs and creep over to the opening at the top.  I thought he was going to attempt to get on the other side of the gate.  Nope, he used the side of the stairs as a slide.  Here's a picture, I don't know what to call it:

In our new house it will be easier to put a gate up on the stairs, and there aren't as many stairs.  I'm so glad we are moving soon.

In the past few days Adrian has said "Adrian's treats" in regards to some baby fruit snacks, he has said "Papa" when I was talking about my dad, and he has started saying "yes".

We turned Adrian's bed into a toddler bed.  He has been doing pretty well.  He got out of bed in the middle of the night once and he seemed really upset so I wasn't sure if he had a nightmare.  I was really tired so I just let him climb in bed with me.  Otherwise he has been sleeping through the night and enjoying his freedom in the morning.  I've been giving him a stuffed sheep that makes a bunch of peaceful sounds like the ocean, and rain.  That helps him especially since people are setting off fireworks.

We tried to have a garage sale on Friday and it down poured all day.  On Saturday the weather cooperated and we had a pretty good day, but still not as many shoppers as we wanted.  We were going to try again on Sunday but again, it was rainy.  The weather has been so weird.  Still, I made some money and my house is less cluttered.  We are going to try again in a couple of weeks.

I took pictures of the tile that got put in the house so far:

The lighting was terrible but this is the tile and border for my bathroom.  The tile is actually white.

I can't believe we wore long sleeves and pants yesterday, in July.  We went to the park and got attacked by mosquitoes.  I got some cute pictures though:

I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!  God bless America!

He's so smart, I just love it.

Yesterday Chris came over and we played this game called Smash Up.  Chris won both times and Matt was mad that he lost.  So we played again when Chris left and he won.  Only because I let him though.

Adrian is quite the handful these days.  Have I said that before?  I can't wait until he gets out of the habit of putting everything in his mouth.  He has also learned a new trick: tearing pages out of books.  So now all he has access to are his board books.  He used to just look at them or take them all off the shelf and walk away; so I wasn't worried about ruining them.

Chris and Allie gave him this cow that moos and walks while a song plays.  It terrifies and fascinates him at the same time.  He cowers and smiles while it plays, and brings it to me when he wants to hear it.  I started singing Old Macdonald for the first time the other day and I did the cow first.  Adrian got up and grabbed the cow.  He knows what a cow is!  I was so impressed.  In other news, Mom heard him say "kick" while he was kicking a balloon the other day.  He says "done" after meals even though it doesn't prevent him from throwing his food over and trying to get out.  He places phones to his ear and pretends to talk on them.  He knows what the remote does and points it at the tv.  Another thing is, he is starting to figure out how things fit together.  He wants to put the plug into my computer and put the caps on drinks.  I got him a puzzle today and he was trying to do it.  He's so smart, I just love it.
You can't see it too well but this is him pointing the remote.
I've gotten all of my Christmas shopping done for Adrian and I'm pretty proud of myself because I got some great deals.  Not black friday worthy, but I am not a black friday shopper.  Black friday is like taking all of my social fears and combining them in the recesses of hell.  While I am pleased that I got it done, I really want to give his presents to him now.  It will be hard to wait a month.  Now I need to do a craft project but I can't tell you what it is because it's a surprise for some people.  Also it might not turn out.  Wish me luck!

October

We have had a busy month of pumpkin patches, illness, house hunting, house disappointments and halloween festivities.  Yet I don't feel very interesting today so I'm mostly going to post pictures.

We went to a different pumpkin patch than normal, with mom and Michelle, Hudson and Coco.  It was fun but a little confusing to navigate.

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a tree dude from Lord of the Rings.  So I took a picture for Matt. Notice Adrian at the bottom.

In the middle of the picture is a David Bowie chicken.  Check out his mane thing.  I'm not sure what he really is called but look at him!

At my parent's house, watching Sophie eat.  He just sat there and watched and she didn't care.  I stood there with him, don't worry.
Cuffed jeans on babies are to die for.

In my last post I talked about how we were going to bid on a house; we lost the bid.  We had a different house that we bid on a couple weeks later which would have been perfect, but we lost that bid too.  So the search continues.  We have our eye on one right now that's right across from a park.  We are going to look into how much it will cost to make repairs before we put an offer in on it.

This is an adorable lion jacket I bought because I assumed it would be cold at the pumpkin patch.

Matt and I went to Vala's pumpkin patch with some of our friends who go every year.  We had Matt's parents babysit Adrian because he is no fun in public right now.  He just wants to crawl around and eat whatever is on the floor.  I think he enjoyed being at his grandparent's house more anyway.  We only took a couple pictures and they aren't very good.  So no pictures for you.

Yesterday was my birthday so my mom made a cake and Michelle decorated it.  It was beautiful and delicious!  Matt had to work so we are going out for my birthday tonight.  I keep seeing commercials for Olive Garden that look delicious so we might go there.  I'm not very adventurous.

I finished Adrian's Halloween costume, which is Charlie Brown.  He looks so cute!  Tomorrow we are going to a nursing home with my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group and the residents are going to pass out candy to the kids.  So at least he will get some use out of his costume.

Happy Halloween everyone!
