Dining room curtains and a trip to the park

My dining room curtains are finally done!  Michelle guided me through the process because I was worried about ruining them.  I think they turned out very nice and even though I was worried that the pattern would be too loud, it completes the room perfectly.  I would take a picture of the whole room but it has been taken over by party decorations (notice I'm still not procrastinating!) and diapers that are drying.  So for now, here are the curtains.

We had another walk in the park the other day so here are some pictures from that too:

Colorado

We are back from Colorado!  It was a long, fun trip so this might get a little long.  We left on Friday and Adrian did really well in the car.  He got sick of it towards the end but we got to Westminster by 5:00.  So we found a Chinese restaurant and ate there.  It was pretty good, I loved their egg rolls.  We swam in the pool, but it was too cold for Matt so we didn't stay long.

On Saturday we made our way to Gold Hill, Colorado for the wedding of our friend Ruth.  It was a beautiful ride on the way up, albeit scary because we were right on the edge for part of it, nothing between us and a long drop down the cliff.  Matt loved the drive of course, he was entertained while I was freaking out.  On the way up Adrian was babbling a lot and saying mama and dada.  So I asked "Adrian, who is prettier, mama or dada?" and he said "dada dada" so obviously the child was very confused.

The wedding was very nice and they wrote their own vows.  I only heard his but they were lovely.  We couldn't even get through dinner before Adrian wet his clothes.  I wish I got a picture of him in his outfit, but it's the same thing he wore on fathers day.  We had to leave early because Adrian got cranky.  We stopped at a mall on the way back but it was less impressive when we walked in.  Besides Nordstrom and Macy's they had all the same stores as we have at home.  We got a onesie for Adrian with a little tie attached but that was it.

We got Chick-fil-a and relaxed in the hotel before heading to the Irish pub for the after party.  I had planned on staying in the hotel with Adrian but decided to try going.  We didn't get to stay long but we still had fun.

On Sunday we went to a restaurant called "Woody's Pizza" in Golden.  It's a really pretty, perfect looking town.  Matt really wanted to go because he went there in college during a Campus Crusade for Christ trip called the Denver Christmas Conference.  I didn't get the big deal.  Adrian ate black olives and mushrooms and then he repeatedly threw his toys down.

Adrian needed a nap so we stopped at our second hotel in Colorado Springs, which was pretty crappy compared to the last one.  I got a really good deal though. We went to Garden of the Gods but it was so hot and we didn't have drinks.  I didn't last very long.  I don't think I'm a great traveler once we get out of the car.  We went to Baskin Robbins because I haven't gone since I was a kid.  I got some vanilla ice cream for Adrian and he loved it.  I got the bubblegum flavor because I'm 5 and that's what I always used to get. Of course we both ended up very sticky. We ordered pizza and Adrian passed out by 7:00.  He fought sleep for a little while and would sit up with his eyes half closed, wobbling around.  Matt kept joking "go home Adrian, you're drunk." Finally he gave in and he was out for the night.

On Monday we visited my Grandma and had lunch at her house.  She made enchiladas and they were delicious!  She is the one who taught my mom how to make them.  Adrian ate rice and cheese.  They had a high chair for him to sit in, which was great.  The last time I saw her was 5 years ago, when we had a family reunion.  She lives with her daughter, who came for lunch too.  We got some pictures with her.  I don't think I have any other pictures with her since I was a baby, but I could be wrong.

You can see giraffes if you look hard enough

So cooperative

Not to impressed by the real-life Gary. (his toy giraffe)

We stayed for a few hours and then went to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  It was beautiful, and we got to see Giraffes, a moose, hippos and elephants up close which doesn't happen at our zoo.  You can feed the giraffes if you want.  I also heard a hippo, have you ever heard a hippo?  It sounds like a very deep maniacal laugh; it's awesome.  It was nice to have a different scenery at a zoo, since I've gone to the same one for 14 years now.  Even if Henry Doorly is the 2nd best, it's still nice to see other places.  I tried to point out all the animals to Adrian but the only one that really caught his attention was a pot bellied pig.  Seriously.

On our last day we went to Carter's because I miss having a Carter's near me and got some really good deals.  Adrian is going to have such adorable clothes this fall!  Finally we went home and I think we were all glad to be done with the trip.

A new wreath, a fun weekend and a cute video

I finished another wreath the other day.  I'm not sure about it though, I originally put a letter P on it but it fell off and I think I like it better without the P.  Next time I need a smaller wreath, I didn't realize how huge this one was.  So here it is:

Here's a terrible picture of it after the P fell off:

Thoughts?

Last Friday we went to Jill and Shad's house for lunch.  She made some delicious pizza's and the kids played together.  It was so fun to see our kids with each other, and pretty soon we'll have another one in the mix! (Emilee's baby due in August)

On Saturday Matt went shooting with Michelle's husband and my dad.  After that they went to a bar and hung out.  They had a great, manly time and now Matt wants a hand gun.  I'm glad they were able to bond and get to know each other better.  The women and children hung out at my parent's house.  We watched "Parental Guidance" and then did some Karaoke.

Adrian is doing well, he's always on the go.  He goes up the stairs so fast, and he's learning to climb back down.  He has learned the joy of pulling all of the books off of the shelf.  I put some of his on the bottom of my bookshelf in the living room.  Yesterday he was banging two toys together and throwing balls and crawling after them.  It's fun to see him play and not just shove everything in his mouth.

This is a classy picture of Adrian standing on a box, in his diaper, eating cheerios after he tore my living room apart.he can reach everything on the table even without the box.  He goes on his tip toes.  In the background you can see a big canvas.  Matt is painting a picture of Dare Devil for his man cave.  Maybe he will let me post it when he's finished.

Matt is going to have ten days off of work starting tomorrow!  I'm so excited to have time together as a family.  I think we'll be able to do a lot of fun things.  We have a wedding on Saturday of a girl we started Bible study with a few years ago.  I'll be sure to take pictures and video this weekend.

11 months

Adrian is 11 months old!  As always, he has learned so much this month.  Here's what Adrian is like right now:

Likes:
  • Eating
  • Slapstick comedy: My parents babysat him and they watched Kung Fu Panda and he was laughing at all the right parts.
  • A specific weight loss commercial with an older lady.  Seriously, he stops what he's doing and watches it every time.
  • Biting
  • Finding new things to put in his mouth
  • The pool
  • Exploring
Dislikes:
  • Getting something taken out of his hand
  • When I leave the room
  • Splash parks
Accomplishments:
  • Has two top teeth
  • Says "mama" clearly
  • Sits on his feet
  • Uses furniture to walk
  • Learning how to follow directions

He is extra clingy these days.  I got my hair cut and when I got back he held on for dear life.  I was only gone for an hour.  Mom says babies this age start worrying that something will happen to their parent when they're gone.  How sad!

I'm not pleased with this months photos.  Taking pictures was difficult and most ended up like this:

I made and sent Adrian's first birthday invitations, and I'm excited for his party!  Here's to one more month of babyhood!

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July.  In the afternoon we went to our favorite park with Matt's parent's.  They had never been to the pond before, and they liked it.  They brought KFC and we brought a picnic basket with some necessities.  It was a beautiful day.  Adrian got to eat potatoes, mac and cheese and chicken and he loved it.

We went for a walk around the pond and after we left the park we went to Michael's craft store.  That evening we had Wendy's and met my parents near the house where we watched the fireworks.  Dad's club (I don't know what else to call it) sells fireworks and donates the money, but use the leftovers and some awesome ones they pick out to do a huge, organized fireworks show.  It lasts about 10 minutes.  We brought headphones for Adrian.  Before we put them on he was really quiet and didn't like the noises.  When he wore them he went back to being himself and he absolutely loved the light show.  He stared and smiled and laughed.  He got hyper when it was over and I feared he would never go to sleep.

Fascinated

Fortunately he passed out, albeit in the middle of the bed, facing the wrong way.

The next day we started going to party stores to shop for Adrian's party.  I'm determined to be way more organized with this party than I normally am.  I think I'm doing well so far.  On friday we went to Nobbies and I found a few things, but not the right colors of streamers or tissue paper.  So on Saturday we went to the Dollar Store and Hobby Lobby and had a little more luck. I ended up going to Party City on Sunday and finally I'm done with decoration shopping.  I'm either really dedicated or a little sad.

After our shopping on Saturday we went to my parent's to visit Eric who was in town.  The babies played in a little pool and then we all just hung out.  Matt went to do something with Chris, and they came back at dinner time so we could go get Chinese food.  Adrian did pretty well at the restaurant, but I often wonder how much food actually makes it into his mouth.

On Sunday we went to our Church's new site.  We have multi sites, and this one is in a nice hotel.  It was a great service and I learned a really good song called One Thing Remains.  Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_KXsMCJgBQ

We had an early dinner and Aunt Patty came. The next day Adrian and I went there for dinner and I gave him berries and some meat.  He loved the berries and they were all over his face and the high chair.  My dad sat next to him, didn't even touch him and said he still got berries on the side of his shirt somehow.  I ran Adrian upstairs to the bathtub.  I forgot an extra onesie though and he had to go home in one of Caroline's old shirts with daisies on it.  Matt was not pleased.  It was hilarious.

In the interest of future, 13 year old Adrian I won't post a picture of him in the shirt.  You're welcome, kid.
