Sick

Adrian is a miserable little boy :(  He has a few minutes where he is smiling and playing and then he starts gagging, and crying.  My poor baby!  I think it's a mixture of teething and some sort of illness like a cold.  He doesn't have a fever, thank goodness. He has slept on and off for most of the day and he won't eat much.  I hate seeing him so unhappy.  We are spending the day cuddling on the couch and watching Kipper and Yo Gabba Gabba. I think he might feel better by tomorrow.  I'll write more and update when that happens.

Stupid

Last night I took three ibuprofen because my back hurt and that's how much I normally take.  This morning I woke up and was fine for a little while and then got really drowsy before lunch.  I got enough sleep, so I had no idea why I would be so tired.  Matt went to help Chris move and I took a nap while Adrian napped.  I still felt tired when I woke up, but decided to clean up.  I started to put away the pill bottle when I realized, that's not ibuprofen.  Those are freaking allergy pills.  I overdosed on allergy pills.  By then, it had been 16 hours since it happened and my only symptom was drowsiness so it didn't hurt me but I feel so stupid.  In my defense, they are both store brand and the bottles are the same color.  I have now learned to carefully check what I'm taking instead of mindlessly chugging pills down.  I mean, not that I take a lot of pills but you know what I mean.

Thankfully I didn't have to go anywhere today.  I was still able to take care of Adrian, and everything was fine.  I just had a really quiet, calm day.

Here is a gif to show my embarrassment:

Why are you listening to angry music?

On our way back from buying that shelf the other day, Matt was listening to Rage Against the Machine:

Me: "why are you listening to angry music?"
Matt:"Because I just went shopping."

He cracks me up.  Some of his coworkers have been wanting to meet me.  We got invited to play a card game with a couple of them and some of their friends.  Matt's parents watched Adrian and Matt tried to prepare me for what his colleagues might say.  He attempted to get me to speak with a spanish accent but I don't know how to do any accents, unless you count the way those up north sometimes say their "O's".  I think all they knew about me was that I'm hispanic and I put up with Matt.  I had a fun time and I beat Matt at the card game so that's all that matters.

I don't have any pictures to go with this post so I threw in some random ones here and there.

When Matt had his man night I told him that he could take me shopping to make up for it.  So we went to this new consignment shop that opened close to our house.  It's for kids and Michelle had good luck there.  It has only been open for two weeks.  The prices were very good, I got all of this for $20:

Matt always loves those sweater vests.  I'm over them, but Matt doesn't give a lot of input on Adrian's clothes so I normally buy what he does pick out.

I really liked the store.  They are still stocking the clothes so there wasn't a lot to choose from in Adrian's size yet, but there will be later.  I'll definitely go back.

After that store we went to Red Robin and then JCPenney. Matt and Adrian went to the shoes while I was across the aisle in the baby clothes.  Some chick that worked there was hovering around Matt, talking to Adrian while Adrian was freaking out about a stranger being near him.  I got annoyed, and she kept asking "where's your mom?" and talking to Matt. I know she probably didn't mean anything but bitches need to stay away from my men.

Finally, we went to Anne Taylor Loft.  They were having a 40% off sale.  This was the first time that I've ever seen them put jewelry in with my clothes in the fitting room.  When I saw it I thought "good play Anne Taylor, good play".  Then I thought one of the necklaces looked really pretty with the dark red shirt I wanted.  Then I bought the damn necklace because I fell for the ploy.  I normally don't pay attention to jewelry to be honest, but it does wonders for a plain shirt and my self esteem.

Soaking up the rest of summer

Today Adrian went for a swim in his baby pool.  He loved it, and it was the perfect weather for it.

He also loved having oatmeal for breakfast and almost ate a whole package.

This weekend we spent some quality time with Michelle and the kids.  We went to the park and Chili's on Friday while Matt had his friends over. Then we hung out at our parent's house while coloring and listening to 90's music. It was the best.
The next morning we went to a parade in Michelle's town. It was a beautiful day, and I think Adrian liked it. I swear he said "dog" more than once. Michelle held him while I packed my car up. Hudson was crying and Adrian motioned over to him and she said it sounded like he said Hudson's name a couple of times. He's learning so much!

This is from Friday. Hw was worn out from playing with his cousins and he just passed out in the middle of the hallway.

Playing catch with Matt, using a block.

After Adrian's birthday I decided it was high time that he have a toy shelf.  It only made sense to put it in the living room since that's where we spend the most time.  I've been wanting this shelf for awhile and it's perfect.

Last but not least, Emilee had her baby last night and I can't wait to see her tomorrow!  I told Adrian he has a new friend.  It is so cool that my baby will grow up the the kids of my best friends from college.  I just can't get over that since I was a military brat and never stayed in the same place.  Welcome to the world Rori!

  Dear Adrian,

A year ago we were in the hospital waiting for you to arrive. We were so happy to meet you!  I can't believe you are already a year old, but on the other hand I can't believe you haven't been in our lives for years.  You have grown and changed so much, and we have enjoyed every moment of it.  You are such a sweet, loving, curious little boy.  You always want to be with me and your dad, and you follow us everywhere.  Dare I say you are an easy baby? You are easy going and always smiling. So far there are no foods that you dislike; you eat everything we put on your plate. I am so glad that I get to stay home with you.  Have a wonderful year my sweet boy, I love you more than words can say!

Love, Mom

Now that I am all caught up I should be writing more regularly.  Sorry for all the delays.  In case you missed it, I wrote a post yesterday about Adrian's party and the smash cake video is at the end.  Here's to another wonderful year!

Here are his monthly pictures from start to finish:

Adrian's first birthday; ombre blue whale party

Adrian is one year old!  I'll do his one year picture post tomorrow.  Here is his birthday party though.  It is a blue ombre whale theme.  I had a lot of fun planning this party but I don't think I'll go all out very often.    I don't have any pictures of the actual party, I'll have to beg them from the grandparents.  I do have pictures of the decorations, cakes and food.  So here you go:

(The smash cake video is at the end)

Sign I made.  Matt made templates of the banner pieces and whales for me.

Present table

Banner I made with streamers.  I taped each of them on a string while watching Supernatural reruns.

I made all of the tissue paper pom poms myself.

Matt promised this would be teal.  He lied.  This is raspberry lemonade kool-aide and sprite.  He should have added lemonade to it.  It was still good though.

Smash cake

I made this cake.

Awesome cake made by Michelle!

Cucumber sandwiches

Chicken salad sandwiches

The kids got different favors since they were all different ages.  Most of them got goldfish crackers, they all got a beachball and some animals that squirt water.  Hudson got a baby book and Coco got bugs.

I got flustered and didn't get my regular camera out to take pictures.  Thank goodness my phone does a pretty good job.

Matt had to work until half an hour after the party started, so my mom came and helped me.  Adrian refused to take a nap so he was exhausted and cranky at the party.  We opened presents and had cake, but we couldn't do the smash cake.  So here is a video of the smash cake as promised.  It didn't last very long, I think my laugh scared him.
